SUGAR LOAF WINERY
Sugar Loaf, NY, USA | 2014
A prototype winery designed for a winemaker with roots in New York and Germany, integrating wine production, storage, tasting, and visitor experience within a single building. The design placed strong emphasis on visualising the winemaking process, allowing visitors to engage with each stage, from grape processing to barrel aging and tasting.
The project developed an integrated winery concept, balancing functionality and atmosphere to create a space that serves both production needs and public engagement. The layout included wine production and storage areas, offices, an event space, and a year-round gastronomy offering that adapted to all seasons.
The building’s façade was designed with a utilitarian approach, ensuring durability while maintaining flexibility. Large openings allowed the entire structure to be fully openable, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience that responded to seasonal changes and enhanced the connection between the winery and its surrounding landscape.
